I really appreciate this 17th Artillery web-site. I was with Btry A 17th in Korea during most of 1952. Reading contributed matter during that Korean matter brings back lots of precious memories of many fine persons, even remembering the shock and hair-raising of our dog 'Troubles' and myself when checking noises in our kitchen tent and being confronted by a huge black Panther as he charged between us. There seems to be a great bond between those that gave and lost so much in that war and those that merely retained precious memories of those special persons. Thank you for all your effort. I don't feel right in responding because I lost so little and received so much. I was able to come home, whereas so many precious boys lost it all. Please keep up the memories of these fine guys. I received word today that Fort Carson is planning to have a Memorial Service on March 3, 2005, to honor the members of the 2d Brigade Combat Team, 2d Infantry Division, who have died in Iraq, from September 2004 to December 2004. This includes five soldiers from the 2d Battalion 17th Field Artillery Regiment. I encourage those who live close by to attend, if possible.

To former Captain and BC George Winton. Welcome aboard sir, glad they found you. I remember you well because we all had a great deal of respect for you. You probably don't remember me but I was the soldier who had his Marine brother come and stay for a few days at FB Colgan. You were kind enough to allow the visit. I was in the ammo section at the time there and was a gun bunny at Schueller. Again, welcome!!
