I served with B Battery of the 17 Field Artillery from 1951 - 1952. When I arrived, we were sleeping in pup tents. Squad tents came much later. Looking for anyone who was assigned to B Battery during this period. Others: John P. Neely and John C. Harris , both from Texas.

I served with the 2/17 From Nov 67 to Nov 68. I was HHQ BTRY, but was assigned as the medic with Bravo Btry on LZ Schueller from Jan 68 until Nov 68 when I came back to the WORLD. I would like to hear from any one that remembers me. I have joined the 2/17 assoc. and plan on being at the next reunion at Ft. Sill. I received a call from Lloyd Smith last month. He was with us on the LZ. I visited with Jerry Brown in 1991. He was the Sgt. of gun six.

I served with C-Btry from 1962 until we left for Vietnam in 1965. While enroute aboard the USS Gordon I was assigned to A-Btry. Sfc Evans was our Chief of Firing Btry. I shall always remember him and our mascot,Pvt. Action. I remember well the day Pvt. Action arrived for duty. Thanks to Sfc Evans we had a terrific morale builder. I would like to add that this was the second time I was aboard the USS Gordon. I was in the Marine Corp before enlisting in the Army. I left Korea in 1955 with the 1st Marine Div.on the Gordon headed for Camp Pendleton, CA.

Ed Hitchner, I would like to thank you for such an outstanding job that you have done with this site. You once told me that if I furnished the information etc; that you would be the webmaster. I'm glad that I took you up on your promise. It is an honor and privilege to have you as a friend. I have talked to a lot of our Veterans who appreciate the site and they love what you are doing. We know that you have a lot of hard work at your full time job, and some how manage to sneek some time in on this site. From all of the 17th Artillery Veterans, WE THANK YOU! My name is Norman Richard Jones, I served with the 2/17th Artillery in Vietnam 1968-1969, A & Hqs Battery. I also served with B & C Battery of the 3/17th Artillery in Germany 1975-1978. The 2/17th has had 5 or 6 reunions thus far. During the reunion of November 1999, we voted to become the 17th Artillery Regiment Association (all eight battalions, all eras). I am currently serving a 2 year term as the association president. Since becoming an association we have had 2 reunions with our 3rd one scheduled at Fort Sill 21 - 23 June 2001. If you are a 17th Artillery Veteran, I would like to invite you to join our association. If you would provide us with your name (First, MI, Last) , Address, phone number, when served and Batteries assigned to, I will add you to the roster and send you a membership application. SEE YOU AT THE REUNION IN JUNE!

Thanks, Richard

Looking for anybody who can help me find Eduardo Maximo FUNES. He served in B Battery, 2nd Battallion, 17th in 1968 in Vietnam. He arrived to An Khe approx. August 67. He was 24 at that time and is maybe the only argentinian citizen who fought in that war. Any help would serve. Thank you. Gustavo Taborda from Argentina.

I served with A Battery 2/17 from Oct. 66 to Oct. 67. Was on 2 gun for about 4 months then spent to rest of my tour in Battery FDC. My wife and I attended the second reunion which was held in DC last summer and really enjoyed the very special people we met there. A nicer bunch of guys (and girls) you would be hard pressed to find. We are looking forward to the next reunion at Ft. Sill next summer. I never thought I would ever see old Sill again, but then I never thoought I would ever go the The Wall either but thanks to you guys I made it and will never forget it. My only problem with the association so far is that there are darned few A Battery guys that have been found so far. Where are you guys? I know your're out there somewhere.

2/17th FA attached to 1st Air Cav in Vietnam when Division arrived in Sept 1965. At the time I was CO, B/1/77th FA, DS unit for 2nd Bde, 1st Air Cav. 2/17th FA always provided good support to the 1st Air Cav. I also knew some of its NCO's who had worked for me in other units. I specifically remember Carl Dukes who was a section chief. I later ran across him in Germany in 1973 while a paitent in 97th Gen Hospital. Carl was then a 1st Sgt in one of the nearby FA units. Have not seen him since. He, and many other EM and NCO's, helped make any officer's job easier. Good web page too - I like its design. Take care.

Served with the C Btry 1/92nd 70-71. Great Website guys! I see changes all the time... love those Projo's on the links. As our units covered much of the same area in II CTZ, I'm wondering if any of your members from 69-70 would know the grid coordinates for FSB's Kate, Susan, Helen or Annie. All of these were close to the Cambodian border in the area of Bu Prang and Duc Lap.

After that I was sent to Nah-Trang MR 2 artillery USARV which i finished my term of service to Aug. 6, 1971 in Viet-Nam. I've been up and down alot of roads since then maybe not as hard as some of you but at times i strugle and rember the ones that didn't make it back and i wish i could have taken someones place over there and they could be were i am at. Welcome home all of you and again I slatue you all for an out standing job and God be with all of you were ever you are. Please stay in touch. Sincerely Craig A. Warfel 2nd & 17th field artillery

P.S. I might be wroung on the date when the 2nd & 17th went back to the states so if anyone was over there during the time I was there please correct me. I worked in the motor pool which i had a pet monkey for awhile but I use to haul the the 105's out in the field.
