I know that we all feel a little lost with losing a member like Ed Dingman. He passed away Wednesday morning at his home after having heart surgery last week. Ed was a combat veteran as well as a retired law enforcement officer like myself and five others in the association. He served his country and our association in many ways. I personally feel a little lost. I do because over the years my family and his have stayed in touch in between reunions and I considered him and Judy to be a good friends. Ed was quick to jump into any type of project we had as well as helping out financially. Ed and Judy were both known to be good Christian people.
The association will be sending flowers with the same arrangement used for other deceased members The design seems to be favored by several family members of those we have lost. Please keep Judy and their family in your prayers. Remember cards, calls, emails, and prayers go a long way!
God Bless you Ed Dingman. Your shift and tour of duty is over. Rest In Peace my brother.

Hello fellow 17th Artillery Regiment Veterans,
We hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday. As we all get ready for Thanksgiving, Christmas and the New Year, this is a very difficult time to pass on sad news to you.
It is with a very heavy heart that I must inform you that our most cherished Army brother and friend, Ed Dingman, passed away this morning. Ed was home with Judy and they had just finished their breakfast meal. Ed started having some breathing issues and Judy called 911. Emergency help arrived and they worked on Ed for a good while; but they could not revive Ed.
Ed had undergone triple bypass surgery on November 17, 2021. His recovery was progressing in a steady manner; and he arrived home on November 24. Judy and Ed had a nice Thanksgiving with assistance from their church.
Judy expects that the services will be held on Monday.
As our association chaplain always says: “Remember cards, calls, emails, and prayers go a long way!”
Check our association roster for their address. If you need the address – send me an email.
If you made it to the Gettysburg Reunion – you saw first-hand Ed’s dedication to our association in the frames he made for our 17th Artillery Regiment Association banners and his presentation of the POW Ceremony.
June and I expect to make the trip to Aurora, Missouri for the services.
Respectfully,
Gil Bernabe – President, 17th ARA
Dr. Gil Bernabe
Ref. Harry Fetsick: I spoke with Harry today after learning he'd been hospitalized and is home now. He was passing blood in his abdominal area and some coughing of it. The Dr.s put him on blood thinners and now believe that may have been the cause of his hemoraging. His heart also had an abnormal beat. He was given a sedative and is believed to have had 'cardioversion'' to return it to normal. He informed me that his catheter has just been removed. Harry also asks that you remember his first cousin Bob Richard's family of Turtle Creek, PA who passed away last night. Please keep his family in your prayers. (Unknown cause at present.) Harry and I had prayer together and we agreed to touch base in a few days to see how he is doing. Remember cards, calls, emails, and prayers can go a long way!
Ref. ED DINGMAN- I spoke with Ed's wife Judy last night. She informed me that they had a nice Thanksgiving, with help from the church as well. Their grandchildren were planning on coming but being they had the 'sniffles' it wasn't in Ed's best interest. He is walking some daily but stated he didn't think recovery was going to take this long. They appreciated the call from Bill Beers and all the prayers for Ed as he continues his recovery. Remember cards, calls, emails, and prayers go a long way!
Ref: Ed Dingman- I got the following message just now from Judy "Ed's home!! Arrived late yesterday. I think we were both wiped out. The first doctor's appointment is Friday, they don't waste time. Our church has done a T-day dinner for 30+ years (I co-chaired for several years) and will be delivering to us this year. Daughter's boys are sniffling so we want to be careful for Ed. He's on the mend, but tired today. Thanks for the prayers and cards, they do mean a lot!
Who could ask for a better Thanksgiving Blessing! Remember card, calls, emails, and prayers go a long way (as we see here.) HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL! It's also a good day to count our Blessings.
Ref. ED DINGMAN- Ed had a good experience last night. He was moved out of ICU to a room. No further. information other than keep Ed and Judy in your prayers. Remember, cards, calls, prayers and emails go a long way!
Ref.-ED DINGMAN- I just spoke with Judy. Ed had his chest tubes taken out today and will possibly be moved out of ICU to another floor which is a good sign!
I asked Judy if they would be home by Thanksgiving and she hopes and believes they will. Please continue to keep them in you prayers. Remember cards, calls, emails and prayers go a long way!
Ref. ED DINGMAN- I just got the following in from Judy Dingman about Ed.
"Just left him about an hour ago for lunch and hospital's "quiet time." They had him up, walking, and sitting in a chair for a while. He's noticing just how much pain this involves. He appears to be doing OK but is still in ICU. They removed some tubes this morning but there are still several attached. Thanks for all the prayers, but we can use more as the recovery progresses" Remember cards, calls, emails, and prayers go a long way!
